Buying in Bangor
Although it’s one of the smallest cities in Wales, nestled between the mountains and the sea, Bangor is also one of the liveliest: 10,000 students at the University of Bangor make sure of that! With much to see and do in the locale, residents enjoy attractions like Penrhyn Castle as well as the beautiful Welsh coastline that is only a short walk away from the town centre.
Close to beauty spots like Anglesey, Snowdonia, Lleyn Peninsula and the Menai Straits, Bangor is the perfect place to settle down for those who love total immersion in the great outdoors. Hike rugged mountains and golden sand beaches, before heading back into the city for a pint in one of their famous local pubs. If you want to take a break from exploring nature, you can instead wander down what’s thought to be the longest high street in Wales for a spot of retail therapy.

Living in Bangor
Bangor is a great place to enjoy a slower pace of life, and the low cost of living makes it ideal for families too. The areas of Hirael and Garth are filled with both Victorian terraced houses and larger detached homes, some with sea views. A little further out, on the Isle of Anglesey, is Menai Bridge. Within a five minute drive of Bangor town centre, it’s popular with families because of its access to stunning beaches.
A lot of schools in the area are bilingual, teaching in both Welsh and English. In terms of primaries, Our Lady’s R.C. Primary School and Ysgol Cae Top are well regarded by Estyn. For secondary schools, Ysgol Friars and Ysgol Tryfan are both well rated, with Tryfan being ranked in North Wales’ top five schools.
